Property taxes are often treated as a routine compliance exercise, but small inaccuracies can quietly erode cash flow and create unnecessary risk year after year. Join Marcia Shippey-Pryce, Aprio’s Property Tax leader, as she discusses ways to identify business personal property tax savings through appeals and reduce your overall property tax burden.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize common property tax filing and valuation issues that can create unnecessary tax cost and risk.
  • Identify potential business personal property tax savings opportunities and when an appeal may be warranted.
  • Explain how fixed asset reviews can surface functional and economic obsolescence considerations that may affect assessed value.
  • Assess how ghost assets, idle equipment, rebuilds/repairs, and asset misclassification can change reported cost and valuation.
  • Describe the role of exemptions and obsolete or slow-moving inventory in the assessment process and how they may affect taxable value.
